Grimes drops surprise DJ mix album as her Cyberpunk 2077 video game character
The album features music from Grimes alongside mashups of Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Ariana Grande.
Grimes, who voices the character of cyborg popstar Lizzy Wizzy in the new videogame Cyberpunk 2077, dropped a full DJ mix album as Lizzy on Friday. The artist took to Instagram to announce the surprise mix, which comes just a day after the game's release, posting a video of herself dancing to one of its tracks. "The cyborg popstar I play in CYBERPUNK2077 just released an album," she said in the post's caption.
The compilation is called This story is dedicated to all those cyberpunks who fight against injustice and corruption every day of their lives! (DJ Mix), and jumps from electro to punk to hip-hop, to indie-pop, and more. Featuring club remixes of tracks from Grimes' last album, Miss Anthropocene, it also features mash-ups of Rihanna songs like "Diamonds," Kendrick Lamar's "Backseat Freestyle," and Ariana Grande tracks like "Into You" and "Dangerous Woman." The album is currently only available on Apple Music, as they "generously cleared the samples," according to Grimes' Instagram caption.
Grimes' last studio albim, Miss Anthropocene, dropped back in February.
