Earlier this week, news broke that Jeremih, the iconic R&B singer behind hits like "Birthday Sex" and "Don't Tell 'Em," had been hospitalized and ventilated in Chicago due to a severe case of Covid-19. At the time, not much was known about the severity of Jeremih's condition; now, his family has shared a statement with CNN detailing his progress.

"[Jeremih]'s family would like to remind the world that COVID-19 is real and not to be taken lightly. It's important for people infected to quarantine and let their families and friends know ASAP," a representative for Jeremih's family told CNN. "There's no shame in contracting COVID-19, and people that have it need to be responsible and considerate of others."

The statement continued: "The family believes daily prayers to God. A great team of doctors and nurses is helping him pull through. He's not out of the woods yet, but progress is being made. The family and friends are praying that he starts breathing on his own soon, and makes a full recovery." Elsewhere, the statement noted that Covid-19 has "viciously attacked" Jeremih, and that his infection "is rare for a young man of his age without underlying conditions."
