Cleveland hardcore-pop band Cloud Nothings will share their eighth studio album The Shadow I Remember on February 26, 2021 via Carpark, and today we've got a brand new single and music video for the track "Am I Something." Check it out above.
The animated clip is directed by Lu Yang. Cloud Nothings frontman Dylan Baldi stumbled upon her work at a 2017 exhibit at MOCA Cleveland. "I was really drawn to her approach of tying religion into gender and various gendered bodily functions," Baldi said in a statement. Yang described her approach to the clip, and its connects to her other work, in a quote of her own:
"The music video created for Cloud Nothings is a scene from my videogame "The Great Adventure of Material World" which depicts an artistic reality where we are exploring and roaming, in a non-binary way, post-death delusions and the intermediate state of Bardo. Bardo has a particularly special meaning in Buddhism as the connecting point and intermediate state between life and death, past and future lives, waking and sleep, and the space in-between."
Cloud Nothings have also announced a reissue of the band's debut album Turning On in celebration of the project's 10th anniversary. That's out January 29 via Carpark.
