It may have all happened a few years ago, but Lil Wayne's extremely intense (and since reconciled) label drama with Birdman kept Wayne bottled up and even, at one point, got him to announce his retirement altogether. That obviously didn't happen; Tha Carter V dropped in late 2018 after numerous delays, and in 2020 Wayne followed it up with Funeral. I mention all of this history because the music video for the Funeral single "Big Worm" just dropped, and it carries through several different eras of Lil Wayne through the magic of special effects.
The concept initially looks simple enough: Lil Wayne rapping his lovesick heart out to the camera. But using a technique reminiscent of Michael Jackson's "Black Or White" video, Wayne's face continuously morphs to take us through what Wayne looked like at different stages of his career. There's Hot Boyz Wayne, "Lollipop"-era Wayne, and more. It's a very effective and silent appreciation/flex of Wayne's longevity and genius. Check it out above.
