Watch LOWERLIPDRIP’S disorienting video for “FERERFAREFAIRFERERFAREFAIR”

Chicago-based experimental hip-hop duo LOWERLIPDRIP are extremely online. One recent EP, I Put My Whole Life on the Internet, was as glitchy and confrontational as you'd expect from two kids — rapper Dew Haydn is 19 and rapper/producer blackrobeBLACKROBES is 22 — who grew up in a computerized hellscape. They rapped about executing right-wing fuckboys and dying on a live stream, constantly stating their intent as the beats stumbled forward: “I’m pro-color, feminist, there’s no other,” “I’m hostile, I’m not polite, I’m pro-black bitch, get it right,“ “I’m online and my dick soft.“ (One of those things is not like the others.)

Their latest single, "FERERFAREFAIRFERERFAREFAIR," taken from their most recent EP Everything Is Fare, is their best yet, a perfectly balanced track that flits between atonal moans and blissful, twisted samples. It's packed with non-sequiturs, but that doesn't lessen its impact ("You pay for art degrees?" blackrobesBLACKROBES asks incredulously at one point. "Man, get back to class").
