Two artists who have actually had a pretty good few months are Tory Lanez and Rema — Tory gave his rap career new wings thanks to his popular Instagram Live series Quarantine Radio and even became a TikTok sensation, while Nigerian Afropop superstar Rema covered The FADER in December. Today, both artists team up to collide their worlds on the new single "Simple Things" by L.A.-based production duo DJDS. Rema turns in a verse and one seriously fire hook, while Tory returns to the patois that made him a star on his breakout hit "Luv."
DJDS described the road to "Simple Things" in a press statement:
"To us 'Simple Things' sort of feels like the ultimate DJDS song because it sounds like what we've done and where we're going all at once. You hear the sample chops and that's old school DJDS but the collaborations represent the future. The work we put in with Burna Boy directly lead us to linking with Rema, and Tory is somebody we've been waiting years to get in the studio with. These guys are upper echelon so we really had to draw upon all our experience to give them something that felt undeniable."
