Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande have shared their first ever collaboration. "Rain On Me," released Friday morning, is the second single from Gaga's forthcoming sixth studio album CHROMATICA, following February's "Stupid Love." Listen to "Rain On Me" at the top of the page.
"It feels so fun to be a part of something so upbeat and like straight pop again, because I do feel like it's been a minute since I've done something that poppy really," Grande told Zane Lowe on Beats 1. "And that's funny because I am a pop person, but everyone knows that my heart is kind of rooted in the R&B-influenced music that I make, and that's where my heart is, but it just felt so good and fun and happy to dip a toe into her world a little bit, and to try this on for size."
"This is about an analog of tears being the rain," Gaga added. "And you know what it's also a metaphor for? The amount of drinking that I was doing to numb myself. I'd rather be dry. I'd rather not be drinking, but I haven't died yet. I'm still alive. Rain on me. Okay, I'm going to keep on drinking. This song has many layers."
CHROMATICA is due out on May 29.
