A couple weeks back, Nigerian-born rapper Maison2500 released his most recent offering with Turnpike. The five-track EP features mind-twisting production that sets the tone for the artist's catchy bars about living a life full of pleasure and enjoyment. It's unfortunate that the majority of the world is quarantining because the power of Maison's music is that it's tailor-made for raging out in a crowded club or speeding down the highway en route to that club.
One of Turnpike's strongest tracks is "Dirty Fanta." It's a collaboration with one of the alté scene's most seasoned artists in Odunsi The Engine — whose new project has two Maison features. But here, while Maison handles his own by spitting raps about the party-filled lifestyle that he leads, Odunsi's sweet melodies add a dreaminess to the track. Today, the track's video is premiering on The FADER and in it, Maison and Odunsi are joined by a couple friends for a nighttime trip to the beach to turn up and ride ATV's. “I just wanted to show my life from my eyes, how quick things move, especially in Lagos," Maison said in an email. "I wanted it to be as raw as possible, considering where I’m from, so we shot most of it on our phones. plus security kept harassing us, so it was a win-win.” Watch the video above.
