Get lost in Art Feynman’s “I’m Gonna Miss Your World”

From his forthcoming Half Price at 3:30 LP.

Luke Temple's floaty voice is recognizable on the latest single from his alter-ego, Art Feynman. But anyone who's listened exclusively to his work under his own name — earthy, folky, exploring the same space that Bill Callahan and Cass McCombs inhabit — will be lost in "I'm Gonna Miss Your World," premiering at the top of the page. Like much of his forthcoming LP Half Price at 3:30, it shares more with the revolutionary Cameroonian makossa artist Francis Bebey and even early, exploratory Japanese pop than it does with softly psychedelic Americana, its repetitions and electronic textures becoming more hypnotic as the song presses forwards.

Though press materials on the release suggest that the song is more about missing tour life while of the road — something that Temple like all musicians is having to adjust to very suddenly — he himself insists that it's more straightforward: "It’s just a groovy number about missing someone and all the things that surround them," he wrote in an email to The FADER. "Pretty self-explanatory."

The video for the song is as playful as the song itself, created in full by director Caroline Sallee just as the world was starting to look anything but fun. "I made this video during the first two weeks of quarantining," she writes. "I think the lighthearted nature of it was my way of trying to stay positive during an unthinkably scary time."
