Digital FORT: Brian Fallon deftly covers Lana Del Rey’s “Happiness is a butterfly”

A quiet ballad from the Gaslight Anthem frontman and solo artist.

Digital FORT Day 1 is now over, and this video has been removed from The FADER.

Brian Fallon and Lana Del Rey come from two different, semi-fictional Americas. Fallon’s is a hardscrabble New Jersey where Bruce Springsteen is constantly playing from the tinny speakers of every beat-up station wagon on the block; Del Rey’s is an Art Deco Hollywood populated by cocktail-drinking depressives who have grown tired of the constantly flashing lights. They have always shared a knack for dramatic balladry though, and Fallon’s deft, home-recorded piano cover of Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell standout “Happiness is a butterfly,” submitted exclusively for Digital FORT, is proof.
