Noted great chef and food lover Kelis has announced that her new weed cooking show, Cooked with Cannabis, will drop on Netflix on — when else? — April 20, aka 4/20. As Pitchfork points out, the series will run for six episodes and sees professional chefs competing to win a $10,000 prize for the best weed-infused food. Announcing the series with a Netflix-inspired manicure photo on Instagram, Kelis wrote “Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my Netflix, so this is a dream come true. Interestingly, this was one of those things that I didn’t go looking for, it kind of came to me.”
“As a chef, I was intrigued by the good and as an everyday person, I was interested in how powerful this topic is in today’s society,” she continues. “In this country, many things have been used systematically to oppress groups of people, but this is so culturally important for us to learn and grow together.”
Last month, Kelis released an anniversary edition of her album Kaleidoscope. In an interview around the release, she revealed that The Neptunes — Pharrell and Chad Hugo — “stole” the profits from her first two records. Read our interview with Kelis around Kaleidoscope here.
