Pittsburgh's Code Orange take their distinct experimental metal sound to new and intriguing places on their upcoming album Underneath, and the new animated music video for "Sulfur Surrounding" visualizes that journey as only they can. Directed by Shade Balderose and written by Jami Morgan, both members of the band, "Sulfur Surrounding" follows a skinless, shiny humanoid through a painful, Alice In Wonderland-inspired journey in different nightmarish and apocalyptic scenarios.
The video ends with a face-off between our Silver Surfer and a chainsaw-wielding brute recreating the cover art for the band's second album IAMKING on his own forehead. Code Orange pulled something similar in the music video for "Bleeding In The Blur," and the band's Reba Myers told The FADER that they try to bring a sense of continuity to their art: "We have an increasingly clear vision for the world we want to create in heavy music and otherwise. But the mission remains the same."
Code Orange's new album Underneath is out this Friday, March 13.
