French-Cameroonian rapper Mikano has a new mixtape, Melting Balloons, coming this spring — and today, he's sharing a gorgeously low-key cut "It's Alright" along with an accompanying video. According to the man himself, the gently UKG-skipping tune was inspired by expressing empathy for fellow club life denizens:

“‘It’s Alright’ is a party song about hype girls in clubs looking for that star life. Even though what they’re doing can be frowned upon, who are we to judge? It’s alright, girl do you. The music video is a story about us, about the world, about humanity. The video concept I developed with the director Juliette Labrousse explores the dark side of our human nature through metaphors. The different scenes show how life could treat us and how we treat life. How we place money behind everything and chow we could die for it, how politician and powerful people could bleed us, could overuse us and the world, but it’s alright. We still wanted to share a bit of hope by the end showing that I am still alive, and I get back on my feet on the last notes of the song.”
