Senator Bernie Sanders is one of the frontrunners in the 2020 Democratic nomination for President, thanks in large part to an army of volunteers who have been canvassing Iowa, the country's first primary state. Now, to aid him in his push, Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver will play concerts in Iowa supporting Sanders, with his campaign's best canvassers getting the VIP treatment.
Bon Iver will play January 31 at the Horizon Events Center in Clive, and Vampire Weeknd take the stage at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids for an acoustic set. Bon Iver's Justin Vernon shared a statement on his endorsement of Sanders in a press statement:
“I believe, unequivocally, that all people deserve support, love, and the freedom to choose how to live their own lives. There are promises in our constitutional language that are being superseded by money and greed in this country; I believe that Senator Sanders is the only one that has the pedigree, the experience, the courage, and the undying spirit to begin to put these obstacles of freedom to rest.”
Tickets to the events are free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. A VIP section is reserved at each concert for Sanders campaign volunteers for have knocked on over 150 doors. RSVP to the Bon Iver event here and Vampire Weekend here.
