6ix9ine seeks to serve remainder of prison sentence at home, citing safety concerns

A new report from Complex alleges that Tekashi 6ix9ine, the rapper and former member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods who testified against his fellow Nine Trey gang members while on trial over the past year, has filed a formal request to serve the remainder of his two-year prison sentence at home, due to concerns for his safety. Complex cites legal documents from attorney Lance Lazzaro alleging that the rapper “is still, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future, seriously at risk,” due to his cooperation with the government during his trial. The documents state that, even at a private jail, 6ix9ine is at risk, making a case saying that house arrest is the only truly safe option.

Tekashi 6ix9ine was found guilty on multiple charges of racketeering and firearms offenses, among other things, last year, and had the mandatory minimum sentence of 47 years in prison lightened to two years after cooperating with the government and assisting with the conviction of other Nine Trey members.
