Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” reaches a billion YouTube views
The iconic clip is one of less than 175 music videos to do this.
The iconic video for Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" has officially reached a billion views, hitting the milestone on December 25, according to SPIN>.
The band's bassist Krist Novoselic shared the announcement from the band's official Twitter account. "Thank you to all," he wrote. Novoselic previously tweeted before it reached the milestone the feat would serve to honor late frontman, Kurt Cobain. “The One Billionth view will be for Kurt!!!!” he tweeted six days prior.
Of course, it's far from the first video to reach a billion views, but it is among less than 200 videos to do this. Others include Luis Fonsi's ”Despacito," which is the most-viewed Youtube video of all time with 6.5 billion views, Katy Perry's "Roar" and Justin Beiber's "Sorry."
On its path to the next billion views, revisit the video above.
