Lizzo is now being sued for libel for what she posted about a Postmates delivery person, Pitchfork reports. Earlier this fall, Lizzo complained about the nonarrival of food she had ordered on the delivery service Postmates, tweeting “Hey @Postmates this girl Tiffany W. stole my food she lucky I don’t fight no more.” Her tweet included what appeared to be a photo of the delivery person she was claiming had stolen her food. Facing backlash, she deleted the tweet and later posted an apology. That delivery person, Tiffany Wells, has now filed a lawsuit against Lizzo for, according to Pitchfork, “libel, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and false light invasion of privacy.” The suit alleges that Wells did pick up Lizzo’s food and attempted to deliver it to her hotel, but could not reach her once she arrived.
I apologize for putting that girl on blast. I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger. Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door. 🥺
