Dave East is no longer facing a misdemeanor battery citation, according to a report from Pitchfork. The Harlem rapper was cited in Las Vegas earlier this year, supposedly becoming involved in an incident with two women at the Delano hotel. At the time, one of the women in the room claimed that East attempted to punch her five or six times, though East claimed that the woman had assaulted him. Now, the citation has been dismissed due to the fact that East suffered a concussion during the incident, which, per East’s lawyer, shows that he “attempted to responsibly quell the situation.” In a statement to Pitchfork, East wrote:
I always treat women with nothing but respect. As a father to a young girl, it’s important for me to set the right example for her and be the best parent I can be. I can thank my incredible mother for raising me to be a gentleman and a father. I’m glad the truth is finally coming out and we can move forward.
