Kanye West's Jesus Is King wasn't released at midnight on October 25, as the rapper-producer himself announced. The latest delay for West's gospel-rap album may be a short one, however: on Twitter, rapper and former GOOD Music artist Consequence claimed Jesus Is King had been delivered at 4am, and said he was "[overseeing the] final mixes and mastering" for the project. "It takes eight hours for the LP to ingest into the digital streaming platforms," Consequence wrote. "I didn't eat dinner so you guys could have this by lunch time 12/1pm EST." See the tweet below:
West addressed the album's delay in a tweet at around 1 a.m. "We are specifically fixing mixes on 'Everything We Need,' 'Follow God,' and 'Water'... We not going to sleep until this album is out!" Last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! contained a pre-recorded interview with West that covered the album and West's rediscovery of religion.
Another album from West (and along with the attendant series of delays) could be out this year. A Christmas album called Jesus Is Born is in the works from West, and he hopes to put it out in December.
