Miley Cyrus caught some heat when her comments during an Instagram Live session on Sunday were taken out of context. "There are good men out there, guys," she told viewers, in a split-screen stream with new boyfriend Cody Simpson. "Don't give up. You don't have to be gay. There are good people with dicks out there. You just gotta find them. You gotta find a dick that's not a dick, you know what I mean? I always thought I had to be gay because I just thought, like, all guys were evil, but it's not true. There are good people out there that just happen to have dicks. I've only ever met one."
After receiving backlash for her words, Cyrus is now clarifying her intent — on Notes app, of course, because it's the only way we can comprehend public apologies (or nonapologies) in the year 2019. "I was talking shit about sucky guys, but let me be clear, YOU don't CHOOSE your sexuality," she wrote. "You are born as you are. It has always been my priority to protect the LGBTQ community I am a part of." For context, Cyrus recently started dating Simpson after a brief albeit intense fling with Kaitlynn Carter in the wake of her sudden split with husband Liam Hemsworth. Still, throughout their marriage, she maintained that she identified as a queer woman.
