Fans say that Taylor Swift has cursed NHL team Los Angeles Kings
A banner at LA’s Staples Center hung in honor of Swift will be covered up for the Kings’ future home games.
The Staples Center has agreed to cover up a Taylor Swift banner that’s permanently installed at the venue due to what fans of National Hockey League team the Los Angeles Kings believe to be a kind of curse engendered by it, as Deadline reports. The banner, which was installed in August 2015, commemorates the fact that Swift has held the most sold-out shows at the Los Angeles arena since its opening, with the performer selling out 16 shows over the years. Before the banner’s installation, the team won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and 14, and reached the conference finals in 2013. Since it’s been put up, the team has supposedly flailed.
Now, due to the insistence of fans, the banner will be covered up during the Kings’ home games. “The connection to our fans is our highest priority and through our engagement they have made it clear that the banner shouldn’t be part of their Kings game experience,” a rep for the team told the Los Angeles Times. “We didn’t see an issue in covering it for our games and in fact see it as an opportunity to show our fans that we hear them.” True to fans’ word, the Kings won last Saturday’s game at the Center against the Nashville Predators when the banner was covered up.
