Spend an hour or two in a Detroit rap YouTube hole and you'll end up hearing a lot of songs that sound the same. Baby Smoove, on the other hand, tends to stand out. He's incredibly consistent (he's dropped three projects so far this year) and his subdued one-liners cut through each beat he raps on. "Plagiarism," which premieres on The FADER today, is a perfect example: he raps on the song, "All jokes aside, I'll come renovate your house/ Can you tell the difference between a rat and a mouse?"
"Brought my eastside brothers to the west to drop some Wockhardt," Baby Smoove told The FADER over email. "I just made the song at 1:00 a.m. — it took me 8 minutes, no exaggeration, and shot the video an hour later. I just wanted to let my supporters know I see it too. They don’t have to tag me in everything."
