Travis Scott and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia will soon sign off on a settlement in Paul's $20 million lawsuit over the Astroworld song "No Bystanders," The Blast reports.
In his $20 million lawsuit launched in April, Paul claimed "No Bystanders" lifted elements from the hook of the 1997 Three 6 Mafia song "Tear Da Club Up." Paul's complaint pointed to similarities in "the cadence and sound" of both songs, as well as Scott's performance of "No Bystanders" at the 2019 Grammys.
The settlement is nearly complete, according to documents reportedly filed by Paul's lawyer: "[T]he parties require additional time to sign all of the paperwork (including paperwork for the U.S. Copyright Office) and to make a settlement payment. I believe that an additional 30 days will be sufficient to fully and finally complete settlement of this matter, and hope that the Court will indulge the parties one last time.”
