PG Ra tells a cautionary tale in his “Lil Stepper” video

The Carolinas are having a huge impact on rap in 2019, and while DaBaby has been carrying the torch for the northern half of the equation, PG Ra has emerged as the most exciting rapper out of South Carolina in recent memory. The Orangeburg native's Blowing Candles project, released in August, stands as one of the best independent rap releases of the year so far.

On "Lil Stepper," a Jetsonmade-produced highlight from the project, PG Ra tells a vivid story about a kid making fast money who meets an even faster end. "I wanna tell the story about the lifestyle of the average young nigga, growing up in poverty tryna make it out that isn't always told," PG Ra told The FADER, "because it doesn't have a happy ending."
