Lizzo has scored her first No. 1 with “Truth Hurts”

Nearly two whole years after the song initially dropped.

Almost two years ago, on September 19, 2017, Lizzo dropped a song called "Truth Hurts." Today, it's reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Lizzo's sleeper hit dethrones Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's new song "Señorita," which had previously nabbed the top spot from Billie Eilish. As Billboard points out, Lizzo is the sixth female rapper to have reached the top of the chart, after Cardi B, Iggy Azealea, Shawnna, Lil Kim, and Ms. Lauryn Hill.

News of Lizzo's chart placement follows a summer of tremendous career highs for the Minneapolis-based artist. Last week, she performed "Truth Hurts" alongside her 2016 song "Good As Hell" at the VMAs. This past weekend, Beyoncé and JAY-Z watched side stage as she brought the tracks to Philadelphia's Made In America festival (photographic evidence below).
