Michael Jackson accuser denounces MTV’s decision to keep title of Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award

Wade Robson, a choreographer who accused Michael Jackson of sexually abusing him as a child, has criticized MTV's decision to keep Jackson's name on the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which is presented every year at the Video Music Awards.

Speaking to The Wrap, Robson said: “I don’t personally need MTV to do one thing or the other, but as child abuse survivors all over the world watch to see whether society will support them or not if they have the courage to come forward, in that regard, it’s an unfortunate choice."

Robson's allegations were aired in HBO's two-part documentary Leaving Neverland along with those of another accuser, James Safechuck. Jackson's estate has denounced the documentary, Robson, and Safechuck.

This year, Missy Elliott will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
