CURRENT MOOD: Let Jeremy Zucker introduce you to his favorite classics (and future classics)
The New Jersey-born polymath has made a Current Mood playlist that showcases old and new favorites.
In our Current Mood series, we ask some of our favourite artists to curate a playlist according to a specific theme or mood of their choice. For Current Mood #005, New Jersey-born vocalist, songwriter and producer Jeremy Zucker shares a playlist of his favorite new songs that sound old and old songs that are actually old. Listen to past Current Mood playlists here.
In the scheme of things, Franklin Lakes, NJ-born musician Jeremy Zucker is fairly new. He’s 22 — born in 1997 — and he graduated from Colorado College earlier this year (with a degree in molecular biology!) The young singer, songwriter and producer started releasing music in 2015, and since then he’s already released seven records, as well as a stack of singles and collaborations, including “comethru,” the intoxicating crush anthem that’s become his calling card.
As someone fairly new (in general) it makes sense that he’d have a preoccupation with what’s new and old — so much so, in fact, that the young polymath has put together a playlist for our Current Mood series called “new old, old old.” As you might guess, “new old, old old” is a collection of songs that are either new or old. Delivering on that promise, “new old, old old” includes songs by Fleetwood Mac, Clairo, Son Lux, Hazel English and more. “[This is] an eclectic collection of new songs that sound old and old songs that sound old because they are, in fact, old,” Zucker tells The FADER via email.
