Hot 97
Freddie Gibbs stopped by Hot 97 early this morning to speak with Peter Rosenberg about his most recent project, Bandana, a collaboration work with Madlib which dropped at the end of June. The legendary producer who has collaborated with the likes of MF Doom and J-Dilla also makes an appearance during the show at around the 18:38 mark. The two first met at a party in LA through a mutual connection and in Gibb's words: "I gotta email him or iMessage him. He don't even got a phone. I've never talked to Madlib on the phone."
According to Madlib this is the only radio interview he’s done in the past 10 years, but that doesn’t seem to add up given his appearance on RadioFrance for an interview in 2013. Maybe this is just his first radio interview on American soil? Either way, there are a number of interesting nuggets sprinkled throughout the interview including but not limited to Gibbs jokingly stating that Kanye West stole the "No More Parties in LA" beat from him, which was produced by Madlib. Later on the enigmatic producer reveals something that is very much in line with his cryptic persona: "I don't listen to anything I've done. I just keep moving."
