These NBA draftees don’t know who Outkast or Destiny’s Child are
We really are that old.
If there's one thing life never fully prepares you for it's the sinking feeling of realizing how old you are by the artists and music people younger than you don't know. Youtube shows like Teens React do a great job of making us collectively aware there are people walking this planet who have never even seen a Discman, much less know how to work a cassette walkman.
A handful of this year's NBA draftees, most of whom were born in 1999 or 2000, failed to identify a few things that are pretty critical to the 90s holy grail in this "Name the 90's" clip from ESPN.
"What is this, Gamecast?" Chicago Bulls pick Coby White asks when offered a photo of a Super Nintendo console. Their 90s music knowledge fared even worse, as they all drew a blank naming Outkast - though some were able to name André 3000 and Big Boi separately - and couldn't muster up a name for Destiny's Child besides "Beyoncé's sisters."
Keeping their ages in mind, this is just about right. But damn, we feel old.
