Michael Kiwanuka and Tom Misch are perhaps both known for making music to kick back to. Whether it's Misch's work with Loyle Carner and GoldLink, or Kiwanuka's Big Little Lies theme "Cold Little Heart," there's a warm and relaxing nature to their finest work. All of which makes "Money," a disco-influenced tune complete with Kiwanuka experimenting with falsetto vocals, something of a surprise.

The track, premiering above via The FADER, is one of Kiwanuka's first releases since his 2016 album Love & Hate. Combining with Misch, whose loose and funky guitar work is a constant fixture on the U.K. underground circuit, brings him out of his shell somewhat, and toward the dancefloor. "Money" marks the duo's first time working together, with Grammy-nominated YEBBA joining also providing bacing vocals on the track.

Speaking to The FADER via email, Michael Kiwanuka said: “The premise of 'Money' is that, at first listen, it's a song about money and how much I want it and love it. I want to use money to meet people and be around people that have a lot of it. But as you listen closer, it's actually about how too much love for money can be dangerous.”

Tom Misch, meanwhile, added: “I have been a big fan of Michael for a few years, so I was really excited to work with him. In the session it was cool to find we share a common love for 808s and disco so we thought we would try something with that vibe."
