Maxo Kream will release his major label debut next month. The Houston rapper's Brandon Banks is named after his father and is due on July 19 via RCA Records. Maxo rapped about signing to the label for "$1.5m" on recent single "Still."
A press release confirms that fellow Houston native Travis Scott will appear on the album, as will Megan Thee Stallion ("She Live"). Production credits on the album include Mike Dean, Murda Beatz, and ChaseTheMoney.
"Brandon Banks" was the alias Maxo's father used for criminal activities. In a statement accompanying the album news, his father is described as a "scammer."
"This album is me telling the story of how I’m just like my dad except he was a scammer and I was a trapper," he said. "Despite his flaws, he was a great parent, always made sure the rent was paid, made sure I went to school, taught me right from wrong. I wasn’t raised to be a trapper, it just happened because of my circumstances. My relationship with my dad now is great—I used to be terrified of him growing up but now that’s my n****a. We’re like yin and yang.
