Justin Bieber fighting Tom Cruise is the Mission Impossible sequel the world needs
Bieber and Cruise in the octagon, what’s not to like?
Tom Cruise's commitment to the Mission Impossible franchise is unrivaled. Anyone who has seen him hanging from a helicopter in last year's excellent Mission: Impossible – Fallout will testify to that. With two more instalments already in the pipeline the need to up the stakes is more important than ever. How do you push the boundaries and keep fans coming back for more? Step forward Justin Bieber.
Bieber's Twitter account is mainly used for promoting his music, like an appearance alongside Ed Sheeran on "I Don't Care," but on Sunday night he took a step out of the expected and floated the idea of a UFC-style scrap with the man behind iconic movies like Top Gun and Jerry Maguire.
"I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to fight in the octagon," Bieber tweeted. "Tom if you dont take this fight your scared and you will never live it down. Who is willing to put on the fight?"
The notion that Cruise will "never live it down" if he declines is what really makes this one. Tom Cruise's obituary is guaranteed to mention two things: Hollywood movies and Scientology. It's unlikely that declining a fight with a pop star half is age will factor into it. Plus, as we all know, it's that Oprah interview that Cruise will never live down. Nothing's beating that.
Bieber randomly calling out A-listers is a break from soft-launching his return to the music world in recent months. In April he performed with Ariana Grande at Coachella and, more recently, teamed up with Gucci Mane on “Love Thru The Computer. ”
Hinting at more music to come, Bieber recently shared a pic from the studio joined by his wife, Hailey. He captioned the photo with: "Studio vibes.. with my studio chicka."
