Sufjan Stevens has released new songs “Love Yourself” and “With My Whole Heart” in celebration of gay Pride month in June.

Both songs have a theme of love. A press release states that Stevens first wrote "Love Yourself" over 20 years ago. A demo version dating back to 1996 can be heard alongside the 2019 version.

“With My Whole Heart” is a completely new song that Sufjan wrote as a personal challenge to “write an upbeat and sincere love song without conflict, anxiety, or self-deprecation.”

A portion of the proceeds from this project will go to two organisations that provide support for LGBTQ and homeless kids in America: the Ali Forney Center in Harlem, NY and the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit, MI.

In addition to the new music, Stevens has also designed a Pride T-Shirt, available to buy on his merch platform Sufjamz.

These new songs mark the first release of music from Stevens since 2018's "Lonely Man of Winter." He also contributed new music to both Call Me By Your Name and I, Tonya. His most recent solo album, Carrie & Lowell, was released in 2015.
