Holly Herndon will release new album PROTO on May 10. According to a press release, the album "was created in collaboration with her own A.I. 'baby', Spawn." A video for new song "Eternal" can be seen above.
The statement from Herndon's label 4AD accompanying the news of the new album states that she "assembled a contemporary ensemble of vocalists, developers and an inhuman intelligence housed in a DIY souped-up gaming PC to create a record that encompasses live vocal processing and timeless folk singing, and places an emphasis on alien song craft and new forms of communion."
PROTO is Herndon's third album and her first since 2015's Platform. Spawn previously appeared on 2018 release "Godmother," a collaboration with Jlin.
