About an hour before news broke on Tuesday that 21 Savage would be released from ICE detention on bond, Tory Lanez shared a new freestyle calling attention to the injustices swirling around the U.K.-born, Atlanta-based rapper. Lanez raps over the beat for "a lot," a single from 21 Savage's recent album I Am > I Was (it's worth pointing out that the original song features J. Cole, the rapper Lanez has been instigating a friendly rap rivalry with).
After rapping for just over three minutes, Lanez uses the rest of the track to speak his mind. He pays homage to Lil Wayne's Dedication 2 interlude "I'm The Best Rapper Alive" by clarifying why exactly he's been challenging rappers left and right recently, and reflects on how his own experiences with immigration in the United States (Lanez is from Canada) have caused 21 Savage's issues to resonate with him.
