Stream Choker’s blissful new three-track project Mono No Moto
The Detroit musician’s first offering since 2018’s Honeybloom
Enigmatic Detroit musician Choker's music stretches beyond any conventional genre, and in fact dabbles in a few different sounds.
The result is a refreshingly, soulful, and poppy R&B and rap energy that can easily gives off Frank Ocean-esque vibes. Today, Choker offers up a three-track set titled Mono No Moto via The FADER. Listen down below.
The three songs all carry a soothing tone, with "Petrol Bliss" — a warm blend of streaming synths, heavy-knocking drums, and Choker's elastic vocals being the standout highlight.
"There’s this moment eternized by Pascal Maitre; 3 Equato-Guinean girls standing side by side after their first communion," Choker says of the inspiration behind Mono No Moto. "Each is wearing a white dress & a distinct pair of colored sunglasses. For months I would return to the photo to take whatever it gave, often textural ideas, an occasional melody or chord. Eventually the fragments came to be a whole & I had three projects sewn up, Mono No Moto being the first."
Beginning in March, Choker will also head out on a 13-show nationwide tour. The trek kicks off in San Francisco. Check out tickets and dates here.
