Despite their reputation as miserablists The Cure wrote some of the most uplifting songs of their generation. Take "Friday I'm In Love," for example. The 1992 original is a sugar-rush of emotion that neatly distills the feelings of freedom, romance, and hedonism into a three minute pop song. Given to Phoebe Bridgers, however, and things get a little bleaker. Bleak is good though and Bridgers knows how to imbue a sense of melancholy like few other out there right now. She recorded a cover of the song for Spotify alongside a live version of her own song "Scott Street," both of which are available to stream today. Scroll down to check out both tracks now.
