Rexx Life Raj pays homage to a Bay Area classic with help from E-40 on “Sprinkle Me”
The track is taken from the Berkeley artist’s upcoming California Poppy EP.
E-40's 1995 single "Sprinkle Me" has been an enduring Bay Area anthem for over 20 years and, true to the song, the Vallejo legend has bestowed a whole lot of game on his region in that time. For his latest single from his upcoming California Poppy project, Berkeley artist Rexx Life Raj interpolated the song's classic hook with a little help from the Bay Area ambassador himself. Raj also sprinkles some game of his own over Kyle Betty's lush intstrumental: "Fuck I look like wearing Off-White?/ I wear my own shit 'cause I own it."
"I feel like one if the ultimate milestones for a Bay Area artist is to get a feature from Unc, E-40," Raj told The FADER over email. "He’s sprinkled us with so much game over the years and with the song being inspired by him it was only right to tap in. He blessed me so I'm blessing y’all. BIG BLESSINGS."
