T.I. will not face an assault charge stemming from a May 2018 incident when the rapper was arrested while attempting to enter his gated community without his I.D., according to a report in TMZ. He still faces three misdemeanour charges of disorderly conduct and one misdemeanour public drunkenness charge.
The assault charge came from a comment T.I. made during his arrest. He reportedly told an officer "You're making it worse for yourself, man... You're gonna have to deal with me," which police determined was a criminal threat. However, in dropping the assault charge, prosecutors have disagreed with that assessment.
The FADER has reached out for comment. T.I. released his new album Dime Trap in October.
