Paul McCartney is releasing a picture book
Hey Grandude! will be the musician’s first picture book and second children’s book.
Paul McCartney has announced that he is releasing a children's picture book. The legendary singer revealed in a short video on Twitter that the adorable new book, titled Hey Grandude!, was inspired by his eight grandchildren, who endearingly call him "grandude." The book's illustrations were done by Canadian artist Kathryn Durst.
"It's basically about a character called Grandude who represents grandfathers everywhere," he said in the clip. "He has four grandchildren, and he calls them 'chillers', and they all love him and they all have adventures with him."
Pitchfork notes that Hey Grandude! is the artist's first picture book and his second children's book. His first children's book, High in the Clouds, which was co-written with Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh, came out in 2005 and is being adapted into an animated film.
Hey Grandude! will be published next September via Random House Kids. You can pre-order the book here.
