A musician's style often reflects the music, which is why Tierra Whack dresses quirky, smart, and one-of-a-kind as hell. Her debut project Whack World defied the typical EP and album structure by having 15 one-minute songs and proved her to be a force to be reckoned with, and her style gives off the same energy. Tierra gravitates to can't-miss prints and electrifying colors, focusing on the details and exuding the same amount of confidence in jeans and a sweater as she does in a head-to-toe sparkly striped get-up, pictured above. Peep below for more of her stand-out fits, and take notes on how to turn a look from a master.
If you feign confusion or ignorance when it comes to knowing about the newspaper dress from Sex and the City, just know up front that I don't believe you. The dress was from John Galliano for Dior's 2000 couture collection, and above, Tierra takes a similar print and makes it super breezy with a sporty silhouette, a bomber jacket, and stacks of gold jewelry.
Tierra is not one to shy away from a loud print. She takes overalls — a closet staple rooted in functionality — and ups the ante with a burnt orange tiger-striped print. On top of that, she pairs the garment with a regular-degular black hoodie and Converse. It's almost as if she's like, "Oh this old thing? Yeah, I just threw it on." And that kind of sartorial bravery is inspiring.
Tierra doesn't do demure, she does soft and angelic. Her cropped top and full skirt are refined without feeling conservative, and in a signature move, she's rocking the combo with a pair of Converse. A cool fact about this set's alphabet print is that it gives Tierra all the letters to spell out "I dress better than you," which is an objectively true statement.
Anyone can do a monochrome look, but Tierra takes it to the next level with subtly different shades of orange, along with some contrasting reds and lemon-yellow eyeliner just to keep us on our toes.
Even when she's on the comfy tip, Tierra finds a way to make it extra cute. Case in point: her jeans, oversized sweatshirt, and hat are all coordinated in juicy watermelon shades.
Take everything you thought you knew about colorblocking and erase if from your mind. When Tierra colorblocks, she does it in dreamy sherbet colors that feel both modern and nostalgic. Please note that she is not only accessorizing the look with a wavy orange choker, but also a folding chair because she's here to redefine everything. Unreal!
