Demi Lovato's mom has spoken to the press for the first time since her daughter was admitted to hospital after a drugs overdose in July. Dianna De La Garza told NewsMax on Wednesday that her daughter is “doing really well. She’s happy, she’s healthy."

De La Garza added that “She’s working on her sobriety and she’s getting the help she needs, and that in itself encourages me about her future and about the future of our family.”

Lovato's mom also spoke about the night of the overdose, revealing just how bad the situation was. "We jumped out of the car and ran into the emergency room to be by her side and she just didn’t look good at all. She was in bad shape, but I said to her, ‘Demi, I’m here; I love you.’ And at that point she said, ‘I love you too.’ We just didn’t know for two days if she was going to make it or not.”

This year marked six years of sobriety for Lovato from addictions to cocaine, alcohol, and Oxycontin. However, she announced that her sobriety had lapsed with the song "Sober," released in June.
