See-thru fashion has been all the rage this year, and PVC fabrics have taken the unofficial lead as the go-to material across all levels of clothing and footwear. The latter has an unfortunate, harrowing element to it — wear a PVC shoe for too long or at the wrong time of the day and watch the piece go opaque with a severe case of sweaty foot fog. But the unappealing aesthetics of a steamy shoe should be the least of your worries, according to NYC-based podiatrist Dr. Suzanne Levine. Speaking to Page Six, Levine went in on how transparent, Kardashian-core plastic shoes are in fact a health hazard.
“You are putting your feet at serious risk by essentially wrapping them in non-breathable plastic,” said Levine. “Without any aeration, the moist environment can exacerbate pre-existing fungal conditions or bacterial infections, in addition to increasing your risk for blisters. The non-breathable material leads to hyperhidrosis [excessive sweating] and bromhidrosis [excessive odor]." Somebody let Kris Jenner know her daughters are in danger!
