Princess Nokia became a much-loved cult rapper with projects like 1992 and her recent emo-rap foray A Girl Cried Red, and now her resume boasts something a lot of artists dream of: a collaboration with legendary rap producer Timbaland. That song, "Erase The Hate," can be heard in the video above.
The collaboration is part of a “social impact campaign” also called Erase The Hate that seeks to "support and encourage a new generation taking action against hate, intolerance and inequality." The clip premiered on Wednesday August 8 on NBC's Today, and will be aired across cable channels on Friday August 10 at 8 p.m.
Nokia's socially-minded endeavours also include "Hood 2 La Gente," a fundraiser for Puerto Rico. According to its GoFundMe Page, "Hood 2 La Gente" seeks to combat the privatization and austerity measures that have plagued the island for years, issues that were exacerbated immeasurably by the devastation of Hurricane Maria. The fundraiser has partnered with several local grassroots organizations like Sol es Vida, el Hormiguero, Luis Llorens Torres projects, and Urbe Apie. Donate here.
