Anthony Bourdain's travel/culinary show Parts Unknown will return to CNN for its 12th and final season this fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The program's final seven episodes will air months after the show's creator and host committed suicide on June 8.
The season will feature shows in Manhattan's Lower East Side, the U.S.-Mexico border, the Asturias region of Spain, and Indonesia, according to The Los Angeles Times. An episode in Kenya will be the only show this season with Bourdain's voiceover, but CNN executive Amy Entelis promises viewers will get a comfortable experience while still experiencing something new.
"Each one will feel slightly different depending on what’s gathered in the field," Entelis told The Los Angeles Times. “They will have the full presence of Tony because you’ll see him, you’ll hear him, you’ll watch him. That layer of his narration will be missing, but it will be replaced by other voices of people who are in the episodes.” Bourdain's production company Zero Point Zero will complete the episodes, which were still in the works at the time of Bourdain's death.
The season's second-to-last episode will take a behind-the-scenes look at the show's making with the cast and crew of Parts Unknown. The show's finale will go into "how Tony affected the world." No premiere date for the final season has been announced.
