A little over two years ago, J Balvin told The FADER in his cover story “I want mainstream artists to accept Latino artists as equals, without us having to sing in English." Today, the Colombian artist nabbed his first number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with Cardi B and Bad Bunny for "I Like It." Hot off the heels of that accomplishment, Balvin chatted with Billboard.
"I'm happy, happy, happy, very happy," he said. "I am totally grateful. It is incredible, everything that is happening, and I really have to thank God for this spectacular moment." Billboard noted that, a year ago, Balvin said Spanish-language number one was "possible, but we’re still not there yet."
