Deadboy shares new song “Come Back To The World”
The U.K. producer’s DEEMZ EP is out May 18.
Last year Deadboy pulled something of a U-turn when he channeled his love of Sade and Scott Walker into a sparse and stunning debut album on which he showcased his own vocals for the first time. Later this month he will twist again. The London-born producer will return to the club sounds he established himself with on a new four-track EP titled DEEMZ.
"Come Back To The World" is the closing track on DEEMZ and offers something of a respite from the hard-hitting techno that Deadboy lays out beforehand. The track is an exultant moment on the EP filled with shuffling drums, repeated handclaps, and just a little feedback among the heavenly surroundings. In many ways it can be seen as a spiritual sequel to Deadboy's 2015 track "White Moon Garden."
Speaking to The FADER via email, Deadboy said: "This record was influenced by a lot of techno I was listening to while making it. 'Come Back To The World' is the most melodic track on the EP. I like using repetitive washy synth lines, in this case from a waldorf wavetable hardware synth, and constantly manipulating them throughout the track. The vocal samples are a bit of a throwback to some of my older records as well."
