Kanye West's return to the spotlight has come with a deluge of inflammatory statements, the most jarring of which was his statement on TMZ this past Tuesday, in which he said that slavery "sounds like a choice." Despite this, sportswear giant Adidas is standing behind West, whose exclusive Yeezy sneakers are made in collaboration with the brand.
"Kanye has helped us have a great comeback in the U.S.," said Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted to CNBC this morning. "There is no doubt the Yeezy brand has a fundamental impact on our overall brand."
West and Yeezy are in the clear for now, but Rorsted also stated that Adidas plans to look into other violations of code of conduct in regards to the rapper. "And then eventually we make up our opinion," he said.
