Birkenstock sandals have been considered the trusty product of German engineering since the brand launched back in 1774, and now centuries of muted neutrals and practical leathers have led to a collaboration with Opening Ceremony. The retailer is taking the legacy brand for a ride and introducing high voltage glitter designs into the functional shoes. Available in both the classic double strap slip-on and clog, the silver and magenta color ways have a futuristic appeal without feeling unwearable.
The packed glitter designs follow JW Anderson and Converse's recent sparkly and color-blocked high-tops, both collabs reminding me of kicks that could have been part of the Zenon: Girl of The 21st Century wardrobe, which I promise is positive.
