OMB Peezy first made a name for himself with his combination of rap influences from his native region of the deep South and his adopted home of Northern California. But for his latest single, the Mobile, Alabama rapper looks to Chicago for inspiration, repurposing a classic Do or Die hook on "Ride." The smooth track finds Peezy rapping with dexterity over a bluesy instrumental, as he reminisces about loved ones lost and evaluates his current position.
"I love the original song ["Po Pimp" by Do Or Die], and so when I heard the beat it was all in for me," Peezy told The FADER over email. "I got connected with Paper Lovee in the studio in Atlanta. It was an honor to work with bro. He's too talented." Peezy is currently prepping the release of his debut album, Loyalty Over Love. Watch the lyric video for "Ride" above.
